Successful settlement of labor disputes result in P713-m economic and monetary benefits to 18,646 workers

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) today reported that some P713 million in economic and monetary benefits have been facilitated for a total of 18,646 workers nationwide, as a result of the sustained and successful settlement of labor disputes by the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) during the first seven months of 2008.

In a preliminary report to Labor and Employment Secretary Marianito D. Roque, the NCMB, an attached agency of the DOLE responsible for promoting industrial peace, indicated that the benefits arose from the successful settlement of notices of strikes, and preventive mediation cases, from January 1 to July 31 this year.
